Happy Father's Day

From all of us at the Donna Edwards Campaign, we would like to wish all of the Dads throughout our congressional district and across the country a Happy Father’s Day.  So many fathers do all they can for their families on a daily basis.  In addition to helping provide food and shelter, they offer support and guidance, words of encouragement, and unconditional love.  And for that, we offer our deepest appreciation. Thank you and have a wonderful, happy Father’s Day.

Sincerely,

Donna Edwards for Congress Staff

Donna Profiled In The Washington Post

Here is an excerpt:

For one ingredient behind Donna F. Edwards's improbable victory over eight-term U.S. Rep. Albert R. Wynn in February's Democratic primary, look to the football field.

The nonprofit group executive from Prince George's County played the game with the boys when she was a tomboyish youngster. She laughed when asked recently whether she was any good at it, as she prepared to lob a pass during a muggy picnic in Glenarden, where she was campaigning ahead of Tuesday's special election to replace Wynn.

Donna Edwards' Statement on Passing of New G.I. Bill

May 22, 2008

Congratulations to Senators Barbara Mikulski, Ben Cardin, and the 73 other members of the United States Senate for your leadership in passing overwhelmingly a bill that will provide much-needed assistance for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. We have asked our men and women in uniform to sacrifice their jobs, their families and in many cases, their very lives. It is imperative that our government reward this sacrifice by investing in our veterans by helping them to attend college.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to Senator Jim Webb of Virginia for his leadership in standing up for America's veterans whenever and wherever they are in need. As the daughter of a career U.S. service member, I appreciate fully the challenges and needs of transitioning from military to civilian life.  My father was the beneficiary of the old G.I. Bill, and those benefits transformed our lives and the opportunities for my father and for our family. They were a just reward for long and honorable service and sacrifice.

Celebrating Moms On Mother's Day

"I'm especially grateful on this Mother's Day to have my Mom, Mary Edwards, as a continuing influence on my life -- a role model and just a terrific person!  I've learned so much from my Mom." --Donna Edwards

On this Mother's Day weekened, Donna visited several  retirement communities celebrating mothers everywhere and thanking them for all that they do.  Residents were delighted to have Donna visit and spend time with them on this very special weekend.
